Castle Time...again

Monday was a national holiday in Germany, so we got one more full day to explore with the family!

We made our way to Burg Hohenzollern a gun castle up on a hill.
It was such a  gorgeous fall day to be out and about!

The castle from a distance... there was sooooo much haze on Monday, but it was still fun to see the castle way up high!

A fun staircase and a beautiful castle

The view was INCREDIBLE, but again so sad that it was so hazy... because the pictures don't do it justice at all!

We then made our way to Teubingen. It's the city that Katja and Franck went to school in.
The University is the oldest in Germany.
The town was so cute and quaint. Cobblestone streets and all.
We hit up a brewery on the river for a late lunch and then walked around the town for a bit.

Beautiful scenery

And of course, for Jon's sake, there was ice cream involved :)

Apparently Goethe threw up outside this window... a fun and cultural experience for all.

Franck's Fraternity house... yes... it does have turrets.

It has 8 bedrooms, but Franck never actually lived there.
We were greeted by a student with thick black glasses, a sweater, scarf, and a pipe... and I'm sure a beer or glass of wine. No Joke.

Apparently once you are in the Fraternity you have a key to the house FOOOOORRRREVER.
which just seems crazy to me! So Franck just opened it up and let us in!

The chairs of the chief and the vice chiefs?? Franck sat in the chair on the left.

The meeting hall

And Katja sporting some Lederhosen.

It's been so great exploring these little towns and places around Germany. I know we wouldn't be seeing a fraction of what we've seen if it weren't for my relatives!
We are so thankful and blessed to have them!
