Paris Review and The Train

Now, as I'm sitting Prague after a 15 hour Train excursion and have had time to think about Paris a little I'd have to say it wasn't my favorite place.

Were the places and sights awesome to see?? Yes.. of course!

Were the people fantastic? meh.
Some people were absolutely delightful and others, like the lady at the information desk that yelled at me for asking a question... not so much.

Truthfully none of us were exceedingly impressed with Paris. I just didn't feel quite welcome and always felt like I was being judged/looked at. Not necessarily my cup of tea.

But in retrospect, any time in Paris should be a good time! I mean I had the opportunity to see some of the most famous sites in the world, and for that I'm eternally grateful.

And of course who can forgot the lovely strikes that led to me sleeping here last night...

Yes, six bunks, closet space, and lot's of snoring.
It was magical :)

But now we are in Prague and ready to tackle the next adventures that wait ahead!

Paris! Mona Lisa Smile

Sunday in Paris.

Time to see the Louvre.

This place is HUGE. Seriously monstrous... and gorgeous all at the same time :)

Ok I'm sorry but how freakishly cool is that lift?? It goes right up between the spiral in the stairs. Yes.. the small things make me happy.

Jon having a hay-day in the Egyptian Antiquities wing.

After getting lost a few times we finally made our way to the main event...

you can feel the palpable tension, the crowd of people swarming... the excitement buzzing in the air!

Ahh Mona Lisa.. you and your mysterious ways.

But seriously, the crowd was INSANE! we had to fight our way through to get some shots. It was a bit too intense so we quickly took our picture and found our way to the Spanish painters.

It was like being back in class with Maureen

Alright everyone... quick find the symbolism... (ok so if you never had spanish class with me, you'll have no idea what I'm talking about... but if you did... you get it! oh do you get it)

So maybe it's just me, but museums make me... tired! As much as I want to see everything and speculate on it's beauty and meaning, there is just too much! After a few hours I'm spent!
It almost makes me feel a little less cultured, or like because they are such great works of art I should be able to suck it up and deal, but after 3 hours in the Louvre we were all starved and hankering for some deliciousness in the form of...

Crepes!

oooooo.. I'm salivating just looking at it now. Nutella, Banana, thin crepe goodness?? sign me up.

After inhaling indulging in our crepey goodness we hit up the Arc de' Triomphe

Magnifique!

Some shots from the top.. different colors...yes. I'm not sure why. But there is no time for editing so they are what they are :)

After a little shopping at H&M ( hey we needed some warmer clothes, and a souvenir from Paris! )

We saw the city at night!

Ashley made us do it...

So gorgeous at night!

For all of you who are wondering, we did manage to get train tickets to Prague! (I'm actually blogging from our new hostel :) )

The rest of the Paris posts will be up today!

Paris!: Eiffel Tower

Today we picked up Ashley at the airport!
And we took a little photoshoot at the Eiffel Tower...no big deal.

Yay for having my best friend in Paris!

Me and my love in lovely Paris

It's mandatory...

Oh how I love thee...

The "Family" :)

J'adore Juan...J'adore Paris!

We also checked out the Musee D'Orsay... but since there were no pictures in the museum, we also decided not to take them outside? I don't know.
Anyway, it was a GORGEOUS day in sweet Paris.

Some other news includes the fact that because of the lovely little protests going on, our flight to Prague has been cancelled due to low fuel. Sooooo we're attempting to figure out what plan B might be! Please pray we find a way!

Paris!: The Lovely Bones

Today, was a great day in Paris :)
But truthfully... what day in Paris isn't a great one!?

We started our morning at The Catacombs
Because, who doesn't want their day to start looking at a bunch of bones buried deep into the earth?
The sad part was it took us 30 minutes walking around a two block radius to find the stupid entrance! There was no big sign, except of the small one above the door, hidden between some big stones from the building. Mildly frustrating but we found it!

The underground well

ahh look at all the lovely skeletons in a heart shape...isn't that sweet~?

bones lined taller than me! taller than Jon too...

As we were walking down, Jon decided it'd be a good idea to let me know that not only have people gotten lost down here, but have died down here... thanks honey.
It was truly like a maze

After that we decided we were in desperate need of some crepes :)

Then it was time for some Notre Dame action :)

Although I was slightly disappointed that we didn't see any hunchbacks ringing bells...

Then we headed to the war museum and Napoleon's tomb

His tomb was MASSIVE! But of course the internet is soooooo slow in the hostel ( it has taken me almost 2 full days just to get this post up)

so I can't upload all the pictures, but I assure you... they will be making an appearance on facebook!

And later today...a little photo shoot with Paris' most amazing landmark!
